Witten Lodge has been serving the community for over 40 years as a mixed practice. Messers Rabbitch and Atkinson moved the practice from the Pill in Bideford to its present day site (a former dentist's surgery) on Heywood Road some 34 years ago. At that time the practice was a very mixed practice serving farming clients in the area, pets and even the local zoo.
In 2002 we made the transition to a dedicated companion animal service and we have gone from strength to strength. We are able to devote all our resources to providing personal and friendly care for our patients and their owners. We believe that continuity of care is vital in providing a quality service and our staff work as a close knit team to achieve this.
This includes care for sick patients: investigating the symptoms of illness, making a diagnosis and drawing up treatment options best suited to patients and their owners.
These may be simple conditions such as cuts and upset tummies; or more complex problems such as eye investigations or treating cancer patients.
Increasingly this care also involves exploring the best ways of preventing illness from developing. This includes services which are already familiar to most pet owners such as a tailored vaccination programme and parasite control, to long term care for older patients.
