Our Staff
Our staff are
our most valued assets. We recognise that our clients
visit the practice for a variety of reasons, and with
differing needs, and our aim is to provide for these
in a friendly and well informed manner.

| Veterinary Surgeons |
|
|
Henry Hartley:
Henry qualified at Onderstepoort in South Africa in
the '80s and joined the practice in 1999. Henry enjoys
all aspects of practice especially skin cases and
reptiles.
Henry is married to Barbara
and they have 3 sons and a menagerie of pets, including
4 cats, a lively border terrier, a naughty rabbit,
guinea pigs and a very elderly tortoise.

Gareth Cross:
Gareth qualified
from Liverpool in 1998 then worked in mixed practice
in Devon for two years. This was followed by some
time working in animal resuce work in India. After
that he worked for two and half years in small animal
practice in Coventry. He returned to Devon to start
a family and now has three children and also a young
Welsh Spaniel, a few chickens and a Herman's tortoise.
Gareth joined Witten Lodge
in 2003 and became a partner in early 2009. His main
clinical interests are general surgery and ophthalmology.
He has been awarded the GP certificate in Ophthalmology
and sees eye cases for our practice and the north
devon area.
Outside of work he enjoys
kayaking and running and has even been known to catch
the occasional fish from his kayak whilst out in Bideford
bay.

Katherine Garside:
Katherine
qualified from Edinburgh in 2003 and worked in a mixed
practice in mid Devon before joining our practice
in 2005. Katherine enjoys medicine cases and sees
a lot of our rabbit patients. Currently Katherine
is studying for a GP certificate in Medicine.
When not working, Katherine
enjoys spending time walking Oscar, her very lively
terrier.

| Veterinary Nurses |
|
Heather Braunton:
Heather
qualified as a Veterinary Nurse from Berkshire Agricultural
College in 1978. She has worked in three companion animal
practices in the South West. Heather has gained the
certificate in Veterinary Dentistry and is particularly
interested in preventive care and especially nursing
clinics focusing on helping owners making informed choices
for their pets. |

Maria Arnold:
Maria qualified as an animal nursing
assistant in 2002 and as a Veterinary Nurse from Bicton
College in 2005. She is especially interested in animal
behaviour and runs the practice puppy parties. Maria
has rescued many animals including 4 cats, Billy, her
mischievious Jack Russel, 6 guinea pigs and a clutch
of battery hens.

| Amy Jones:Amy
qualified as a Veterinary Nurse from Spasholt College
in 2008 and went on to achieve a degree in veterinary
nursing in 2009. |

Staff |
Sue Cann: Office
Manager.
Sue
joined the practice almost 20 yrs ago and keeps the
office running smoothly. |

| Receptionists |
| Vicky Grills:
Vicky joined the practice
in 2006. Vicky has attended 2 courses covering all aspects
of veterinary reception work. She is largely responsible
for ordering supplies from our wholesalers. Vicky has
a young, adventurous, cat who welcomes her home from
work each day. |

| Teresa Gough:
Teresa joined the
practice in 2006. Teresa has attended 2 courses covering
all aspects of veterinary reception work. She is largely
responsible for our health plans. Teresa has an elderly
cat who will happily share the sofa with her! |
